Naujawan Bharat Sabha condemns the shameful attack on activists of Indian People in Solidarity with Palestine, and BDS India
On 10th May, students and activists associated with Indian People in Solidarity with Palestine and BDS India were assaulted by RSS-BJP goons during a peaceful demonstration outside a Domino’s outlet in Karve Nagar, Pune. The activists were distributing pamphlets and appealing to people to oppose the genocidal war on Gaza and boycott companies that directly or indirectly support Zionist Israel. Brands like Domino’s maintain hundreds of outlets in Israel, and not only profit from royalties but, in many cases, openly express support for the Israeli occupation forces (IDF) and the occupation itself.Despite the activists’ repeated explanations that it was a peaceful demonstration and focused solely on opposing the ongoing genocide in Gaza, fascist goons tore down their banners, physically assaulted them, and even threatened female activists with rape. All of this unfolded right under the watch of the Pune police. Not only did the Pune police stand by passively as the assault occurred, they are now refusing to register an FIR against the well-known BJP-RSS leaders involved in the attack. Such is the state of democracy in this country.
The BJP’s IT Cell has now launched a fake news campaign, falsely claiming that the activists were assaulted for raising pro-Pakistan slogans. We appeal to all progressive-minded citizens to expose and counter this malicious propaganda, stand firmly with the assaulted activists, and defend the democratic right to protest.
Naujawan Bharat Sabha further demands that the Karve Nagar police to issue an explanation for the disgraceful delay in taking prompt action. Even the FIR that has been registered doesn’t include serious charges that should have been leveled, which clearly shows that the police is trying its best to protect BJP-RSS leaders. Hence we demand a fair and transparent inquiry and strict action is taken against sanghi goons.
