Pahalgam Terror Attack: Who Is Responsible for the Lapses in the Safety of Tourists and Ordinary Citizens!?

Pahalgam Terror Attack:
So Much for the Claims of Peace in Kashmir!
Who Is Responsible for the Lapses in the Safety of Tourists and Ordinary Citizens!

Expose and Defeat the Sangh’s Conspiracies Aimed at Using the Pahalgam Terror Attack to Stoke Communal Fire Across the Country!

Friends,

On April 22, a terror attack took place at Pahalgam, a well-known tourist destination in the Anantnag district of Kashmir. This attack claimed the lives of 27 people and left many others injured. Naujawan Bharat Sabha strongly condemns this act of terror. Among the deceased are people from different Indian states and one foreign national. Responsibility for the attack has been claimed by an extremist group called “The Resistance Front,” reportedly affiliated with the Pakistani terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba. During the attack, local Kashmiris—horse owners, hotel staff, taxi and auto drivers—rushed to save tourists and help get them to safety. One such horseman, Adil Hussain, was shot dead on the spot by a terrorist while helping tourists. Tourists themselves have acknowledged that poor Kashmiris working humble jobs stepped forward without hesitation, offering all possible help without demanding anything in return. The general population of Kashmir has condemned this terrorist act with full force. Ordinary people took to the streets to protest and called the attack an assault on Kashmiriyat. Announcements against the attack were made from mosques across the region, and several political parties came forward to oppose this barbaric act. The image of Kashmiris that the Indian mainstream media has portrayed for years lies shattered in the face of the stories, pictures, and videos now circulating on social media. Even so, this attack is bound to leave a strongly negative impact on tourism in Kashmir. It also lays bare the central government’s lofty claims about the return of peace in the region.

Following the Pahalgam attack, conscientious people across Kashmir and the country are gripped by sorrow and rage. But there is a faction that is celebrating even this inhuman tragedy. Members of the Sangh Parivar and various lumpen elements associated with the BJP are visibly pleased. After all, they’ve found yet another excuse to target Muslims. Reports have started coming in from different states of Kashmiri students and Muslim workers being singled out and attacked. The Godi media, which stays deaf and mute when it comes to Hindutva terrorism, is now hell-bent on giving this attack a completely communal twist. The BJP’s pet IT cell is busy fabricating lies and disinformation. Every Kashmiri who stands up against this attack is being branded a terrorist; every Muslim in the country is being cast under suspicion. Using the bogey of Pakistan, the entire Kashmiri and Muslim population is being painted as enemies of India. We appeal to every conscientious student, youth, and citizen: do not fall for the BJP-Sangh Parivar’s agenda. Their own children study and live comfortably abroad, while they would not hesitate for a moment to destroy the lives of your unemployed brothers and sisters, sons and daughters. So friends, stand firm in unity for your real rights—education, employment, healthcare, and housing—and do not let yourself be turned against your own people by communal fascists. Push back against the gangs targeting Kashmiris and poor or migrant Muslims with the strength of your collective unity, because silently watching injustice unfold makes you complicit in it.

Friends, the Modi government must be held accountable for the continuing wave of terror attacks in Kashmir. Kashmir remains one of the most militarized regions in the world. Even so, how did something like Pulwama happen, where dozens of soldiers were killed? And now, how has an attack like Pahalgam occurred, in which 27 innocent lives have been lost? If Pakistan truly is behind these attacks, then how is cross-border infiltration still happening? The Modi government once boasted about “breaking the back of terrorism” through demonetization. Since then, Article 370 and 35A have been revoked, Jammu & Kashmir was stripped of its statehood, domicile laws were changed, and the Kashmiri people were crushed under military rule. Yet, terrorism shows no sign of being defeated. The truth is simple: where there is no justice, there can be no peace. The people of Kashmir have lived through the darkest days of terrorism and have never supported it—but repression inevitably gives rise to resentment, and that resentment provides extremist groups with fertile ground to grow.

Friends, just like with Pulwama, the chances are slim that the real perpetrators of the Pahalgam attack will ever be caught. But what’s certain is that this incident will be used shamelessly in the upcoming Bihar and Bengal elections. If we carefully compare the timeline of major terror attacks and wars—starting from Kargil—with election schedules, something suspicious always shows up. It hasn’t been long since a senior police officer of DSP rank, Devender Singh, was caught with wanted Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists. After Pulwama, we all saw how the deaths of soldiers were weaponized to fuel jingoism, blind nationalism, and war hysteria for electoral gain. Is the reality of this political game hidden from anyone anymore? Since the 1980s, every time the poison of terrorism has spread in Kashmir, the biggest beneficiaries have always been the communal fascist forces. And the greatest victims have been the people of Kashmir—of all castes and religions.

We demand a thorough and transparent investigation into the Pahalgam terror attack. The families of the deceased must receive proper compensation, and the injured must be provided with high-quality medical treatment. Tourists traveling to Kashmir, government employees posted there, migrant workers, and all ordinary civilians must be guaranteed safety and security. Kashmiri students studying across India and workers who have migrated for employment must be provided necessary protection. True peace in Kashmir can only come when the people of Kashmir are granted all their essential political and economic rights.
